PURPOSE: To provide a motor-driven type shift control device by which the position of a transmission can be surely returned to a decided range at the trouble of a position sensor.

CONSTITUTION: A control device to drive a motor 7 according to the operation of an operation part and control the position of a transmission, is provided with a position sensor 2 to detect the present position of the motor 7, a memory means to memorize the position of the tansmission, and an estimation means to estimate a decided range position based on the operation position of the operation part and the position sensor output directly before the trouble at the trouble of the position sensor 2, the motor 7 is driven in the decided direction of a D range, an N range, or the like, and the position of the transmission can be surely returned to the decided range of the D, N, or the like in the case of the trouble of the position sensor.
