CONSTITUTION: A motor-operated power steering device comprises a steering torque detecting device M2 to output detected steering torque as actual steering torque; a computing device M3 to compute steering torque for control as a deviation between the detected steering torque and reference torque; and a control device M4 to control a motor M1 according to at least steering torque for control. From a steering angle detected by a steering angle detecting device M5 and the rotation angle of a motor detected by a rotation angle detecting device M6, estimated steering torque is computed by an estimated steering torque computing device M7, and by a reference torque setting device M8, reference torque To is set to detected steering torque when estimated steering torque is substantially zero.
