To set the flow rate of a refrigerant flowing through a motor-operated valve constant in both forward and backward flow directions.
This motor-operated valve 10 is provided with: a valve body 12 regulating a passage flow rate of a fluid by a valve element in a valve chest; a can 16 fixed to the valve body 12, and having a rotor 17 operating the valve element 13 incorporated therein; and a stator 18 externally fitted to the can 16 and rotationally driving the rotor 17. The motor-operated valve is structured such that the valve element 13 is made rotatable, and the flow rate of a fluid is set nearly constant in both the forward and backward flow directions of the fluid. Therefor, the outer surface of the valve element 13 is formed into a cylindrical shape, and the valve element is rotated by using the center line of the cylinder as an axis, and an orifice 13a and a cutout part 13b for running the refrigerant between passages 2a and 2b are formed on the valve element 13.
