Abstract:

To provide a thinner motor and a recording medium drive device.

The motor is composed of: a shaft body 4, which is supported rotatably around an axis L while holding a permanent magnet 5; a bearing portion 3, which supports the shaft body rotatably around the axis; a base portion 7, which supports and fixes the bearing portion; and a plurality of tooth poles 21, whose tip end portions 23 are arranged so as to face the permanent magnet rotating around the axis and which are formed to extend in the radial direction toward the permanent magnet at every prescribed angle around the axis. In the motor 2 including the tooth poles configured with a part of notch portions 11 formed by cutting a part of the base portion, the notch portions are thinner than the base portion, and the base portion has space portions 31, in which bulging portions 24 of coils 13 wound on the tooth poles can be arranged.
