PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a lock condition of a wheel caused by the action of a retarder by reducing braking action when an absolute value of a difference in the number of revolutions between wheels exceeds a predetermined limit value smaller than an absolute value of a difference in the number of revolutions between wheels at the time when lock tendency of one wheel starts.
SOLUTION: A cycle defining required input amount starts at step 2 after start step 1. An absolute value (ds) of a difference between a value of the number of revolutions of a wheel of a rear axle braked continuously and a value of the number of revolutions of a wheel of a front axle not braked continuously, time gradient (ds/dt) of the absolute value ds, and a limit value (dsG) caused for a running condition are obtained at step 3. The absolute value ds is compared with the limit value dsG at step 4. When the absolute value ds exceeds the limit value dsG the braking action of a retarder is reduced at step 5. If the absolute value ds is below the limit value dsG, the braking action of the retarder is increased at step 6. Then, the operation proceeds to end step 7.
