To provide a motor with a brake mechanism that can adequately impart a braking force to a shaft by an extremely simple part constitution.
The motor 10 with the brake mechanism is constituted of: a roller bearing 21 that rotatably supports the brake mechanism 20 to the shaft 16; a one-way clutch 22 arranged at the external periphery of the shaft 16; and a brush bearing 23 fit to a recess 12a of a housing 12 so as to contact with the external peripheral face of the one-way clutch 22 and the external peripheral face of the roller bearing 21. The friction force generated between the brush bearing 23 and the housing 12 is made larger than a load that makes the shaft 16 reversely rotate when the motor 10 is not applied with a current so that the one-way clutch 23 idles at the forward rotation of the shaft 16 and is locked at the reverse rotation of the shaft.
