Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable robot-mounted fluid dispensing system that dispenses a high or low viscosity material from a prefilled cartridge.SOLUTION: The dispensing apparatus dispensing fluid from a fluid cartridge comprises a plunger movable between opposite ends within the cartridge. The dispensing apparatus is releasably coupled to a robot for the control of fluid dispensing at a particular location. The movement of the plunger is carried out by a cartridge actuator assembly including a linear actuator, such as a servomotor, that moves the piston rod into engagement with the plunger, and the plunger is movable by force applied to the piston rod. The dispense section of the dispensing apparatus comprises a valve assembly with a snuff-back mechanism that prevents an excess liquid dripping from a dispenser outlet. An end effector assembly may be coupled to the dispense section for dispensing the fluid to an application site in a precise and controlled manner.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
