To provide an electric water pump for controlling a flow of fluid for temperature control, in an internal combustion engine including an engine block with a fluid inlet and a radiator.
A mounting flange 28 for mounting a housing 12 directly to the engine block 30 is included. In the housing 12, the mounting flange 28 is positioned such that the water pump 10 is directly positioned in an engine block opening 40 position when the housing 12 is mounted to the engine block 30. In the condition where a fluid flow passing through a stator assembly 32 aligns with an axis line in the longitudinal direction of a rotor assembly 34, the fluid flow is directly moved to the engine block 30, with turbulence in the fluid flowing direction extremely minimized. A tail part 38 is positioned in the engine block opening 40 position or in a position slightly entering into the opening.
