Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mounting member that provides consistent and repeatable forming, uniform curing, and the capability to satisfy multiple desirable characteristics.SOLUTION: There is provided a mounting member for an air maintenance tire that includes a sidewall that is provided with a groove to receive an air tube and a recess to receive pneumatic connectors 40, 42 that are in fluid communication with the air tube. The mounting member includes a plurality of layers 52, 58, 60, 82 in stacked alignment with one another. The mounting member is received in the recess and secured to the tire sidewall, thereby securing the position of the pneumatic connectors 40, 42.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
