Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mounting method for optical transmission module which can position a light emitting element and an optical fiber with high precision and can be simplified in mounting process.
SOLUTION: The distance L between an end surface of an end surface type semiconductor light emitting element array 3 mounted on the back of a guide substrate 2 and an end surface of a guide substrate 2 is measured to find the distance (L+a) between the end surface type semiconductor light emitting element array 3 and an optical fiber array 6, and on the basis of the found distance (L+a), the optical fiber array 6 is moved along the center line of a guide groove 1 to insert the optical fiber 5 into the guide groove and fix the optical fiber array 6 to the guide substrate 2, thereby positioning the light emitting element 4 and optical fiber 5 along the optical axis of the light light element 4. Further, the optical fiber 5 is inserted into and fixed to the guide substrate 2 and then the light emitting element 4 and optical fiber 5 can be positioned in two directions crossing the optical axis of the light emitting element 4 at right angles.
