Title:
MOUNTING STRUCTURE FOR STEERING SHAFT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH05238396
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To stabilize a steering wheel against vibration during idling by reliably supporting and mounting a steering shaft in a state to prevent it from being an obstacle against an instrument panel.

CONSTITUTION: A key cylinder 11 is mounted on the upper part in an axial direction of a steering column 6, in which a steering shaft 5 is inserted, in such a manner as to protrude in the direction of the width of a car body from both sides. The ends on the one side of a pair of brackets 13 and 13 are fixed to the two ribs 12 of the protrusion parts, and the ends on the other side of a pair of the brackets 13 and 13 are fixed to a fixing bracket 2 below an instrument panel 1. Since the side of the upper part in an axial direction of the steering column 6 is fixed by means of a pair of the brackets 13 and 13, the steering column is prevented from upward protrusion and is prevented from being an obstacle on measuring meters attached to the instrument panel to improve appearance. Further, since the upper part of the steering column 6 is supported, the size of an overhang part is small the influence of vibration of the steering shaft 5 is reduced, and operability of the steering wheel 7 is also improved.
