PURPOSE: To make it possible to maintain a piping or the like at a constant position by employing one magnet attached to an object to be supported and the other magnet opposing the first magnet with a gap and attached to a support scaffold.

CONSTITUTION: A piping 4 as an object to be supported is supported on a support scaffold 3 via a free moving type support device 1. The free moving type support device 1 is provided with a plurality of pairs of magnets 5a-5d and a band 6. The band 6 is wrapped in the circumferential direction of the piping 4. Magnets 7a-7d are attached on the outer surface of the band 6. Magnets 8a-8d are attached to a support scaffold 3 at positions opposite the magnets 7a-7d with an appropriate gap r. As a result, devices, pipings, etc. can be retained at constant positions against their own weights and forces due to earthquakes, etc. Because the thermal expansion and movement of the devices and pipings are not restrained mechanically, safety of a facility is improved.
