To provide a moving bed type filtration apparatus in which the filter medium regenerating capacity can be kept high by surely withdrawing a desired amount of filter medium from a withdrawing part at the top of a filtration tank even when the fluidity of the filter medium in a filter medium layer is low when removing contaminants from the withdrawn filter medium and returning the regenerated filter medium to the bottom of the filtration tank.
The filter medium layer 14 is formed in the filtration tank 10 for gathering the floating filter media 12. Original water is cleaned by feeding the original water into the filtration tank 10 and making the original water pass through the layer 14. The treated water is discharged to the outside of the tank 10. Meanwhile, the media 12 are withdrawn from the withdrawing part 32 at the top of the filtration tank 10, the contaminants stuck to the media 12 are removed and the regenerated media 12 are supplied to the bottom of the filtration tank 10. A screw conveyer 46 is arranged in the filtration tank 10 and in the layer 14 for conveying/supplying the media 12 upward toward the part 32.
