To prevent foreign matter, for example, the hand of a passenger inserted in the entry of a moving handrail in error, from being held and pressed in between the moving handrail and the edge of the entry.

A moving handrail 3 moving along the outer periphery of a rail and entering into the base 2 of the rail at the longitudinal end of the rail is provided. An entry guide tool 9 through which the moving handrail 3 is inserted is provided at the base 2 of the rail to form a storage room 11 at the lower side of the moving handrail 3 and an opening 12 at the lower side on the entry side of the moving handrail. A protector 14 to plastically deformed with the thrust of foreign matters entering into the storage room 11 is stored in the storage room 11 to form and arrange less cavities in the outer face of the moving handrail 3. In this way, the protector 14 is plastically deformed by the foreign matters, for example, the hand of a passenger inserted from the opening 12, to avoid the foreign matters from being held and pressed by an opposite member and prevent the occurrence of trouble.
