A host computer 12 receives digital moving image data produced from an image pickup device 11, applies signal processing to the digital moving image data, and issues a command to control the operation of the image pickup device 11. According to this command, a transfer operation of transferring the digital moving image data for each frame onto a digital bus 14 and signal processing to the moving image data by the host computer 12 are conducted simultaneously in parallel. Through the configuration above, since the image transfer request command is dynamically issued depending on a state of a processed load by the host computer 12, highly efficient moving image transfer and processing are conducted even when the processing for the image data by the host computer 12 takes much time to obtain a high image display rate.
