To provide a moving image printing system capable of printing moving image data as a still image by instructing execution of printing using a command regarding an object to be printed designated at a host device side.
This system is provided with: a host device 2 which supplies image data containing moving image data describing a correlation between frames; and a printer 10 which inputs image data and in which the image data are interpreted by an interpretation unit 6 and printed as a still image by a printing mechanism 17. At least one of the host device 2 and the printer 10 comprises a function which generates a command for printing the image data in a desired form and for a desired number of prints through a predetermined printing procedure for continuous frames thereof, and a function which executes printing by discriminating that data to be printed are moving image data and fitting the data to a predetermined layout by interpreting the command sent from the host device 2 to the printer 10.
