PURPOSE: To provide a moving method for a heavy object which can relax flatness required by a pedestal and move a heavy object does not integrate a moving rail with the heavy object such as a caisson and the like, and also can move the body without directly pushing or pulling the heavy object itself.
CONSTITUTION: In a sliding way means 20, a plurality of hydraulic jacks 18 are installed under the lower surface of a travelling beam 16 in such a way that a space between the travelling beam 16 and the upper surface of a rail 6 can be widened/contracted, each resin plate 17 as a low frictional member is attached to the bottom surface of each hydraulic jack 18, and each resin plate 17 is brought into contact with the upper surface of the rail 6 with pressure. A heavy object 2 is floated up over the floor surface via the travelling beam 16 with each jack 18 extended, so that the load of the heavy article 2 is received by the rail 6 via pedestal means 22. The travelling beam 16 is pulled in the longer direction of the rail 6 by a jack so as to allow each resin plate 17 to be slid over the upper surface of the rail 6, so that the heavy particle 2 is moved integrally with the sliding pedestal means 20.
