To provide a moving picture retrieving device which retrieves a mov ing picture according to the similarity of dynamic metadata (dynamic feature variable) obtained from video.
The moving picture retrieving device is equipped with at least an example moving picture specification part 2 which specifies an example moving picture in input video 1 and specifies the periods of the disclosure of the specified example moving picture and its end, a metadata comparison part 4 which retrieves similar video by comparing metadata including the feature variable of the movement of an object in the specified example moving picture with metadata stored previously in a metadata database 3 and including the feature variable of movement of an object, and a retrieval result display part 5 which displays the retrieval result.
