Abstract:

PURPOSE: To facilitate consecutive recording and editing in the variable length coded recording.
CONSTITUTION: Image information of M-frames is coded in variable length so as to be recorded on N tracks of a magnetic tape and the result is recorded on the magnetic tape. Control signals *a, *b representing the starting position of N tracks are recorded on an linear track of the magnetic tape. When frames #1b-#4b are consecutively recorded after a frame #3a, the control formation representing the effective final frame #3a in the N tracks is recorded the control signal *a.
