This reproduction equipment encodes the data of the connection block A of the first MPEG image data again after decoding it. This repeated encoding is controlled for execution so that the transition of a VBV buffer occupation value may be started from the VBV buffer occupation value at a point (a) and be finished until the VBV buffer occupation value at a position (d). Then, this equipment performs reproduction of the first MPEG image data until the position (a) of the first MPEG image data, and next reproduces the recoded MPEG image data in the connection block A, and then, connects it to the position (d) of the second MPEG image data and reproduces the second MPEG image data on and after the point (d).
