Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resonance muffler that has a simple configuration and can obtain both of sound-muffling performance and output performance of an internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: A resonance muffler 7 includes: a housing member 11 having a resonant chamber 21 formed therein; a communication pipe 12 that has a first end portion 12a communicated with an intake passage 3 and an opened second end portion 12b and in which a communication window 22 for communicating the intake passage with the resonant chamber is formed in a side portion 12c; a sliding member 13 that has a bottom portion 23 covering the second end portion of the communication pipe and a side portion 13b covering the side portion of the communication pipe, is mounted to the communication pipe so as to enable sliding displacement in the longitudinal direction and is displaced in a sliding manner between an opening position that enables the communication between the communication window and the resonant chamber and a closing position that blocks the communication between the communication window and the resonant chamber in accordance with pressure of air applied from the intake passage to a lower surface 23a of a bottom portion; and an elastic member 14 for energizing the bottom portion of the sliding member toward the second end portion of the communication pipe.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
