To provide a muffler for an internal combustion engine, which discharges condensate more surely.
In the muffler for the internal combustion engine, the internal space of a shell 11 is partitioned into an upstream first chamber 11x and a downstream second chamber 11y by a conical partition member 21. A tubular inlet member 40 protruded in a first chamber 11x is fixed to the upstream side of the shell 11. An upstream end of an outlet pipe 22 is connected to the partition member 21, and passes through the second chamber 11y. A lower part of a conical part 21a of the partition member 21 is provided with a tilted guide face 21x for guiding the condensate from the bottom of the first chamber 11x to the outlet pipe 22. Blowout holes 40a are formed to the lower area of a peripheral wall of the inlet member 40. The condensate accumulated in the first chamber 11x is strongly pushed by exhaust gas blowing down thereon, and is swept along the guide face 21x and discharged from an outlet 22.
