Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain both of a muffling effect and a reduction in a back pressure in a muffler.SOLUTION: A muffler (11) includes a hollow body (15), a plurality of expansion chambers (37, 39, 41) formed by partitioning an inside of the body by at least one partition wall (31, 33), and communication pipes (43, 45) penetrating through the partition wall and causing the expansion chambers to communicate with each other. At least one of the partition walls has funnel-shaped structures (51, 53), and reduced portions (51a, 53a) of the funnel-shaped structures are directed to a downstream side of exhaust gas. The communication pipe is connected to the reduced portions, and an end of the communication pipe is not protruded toward an upstream side of the exhaust gas from the partition wall.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
