PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce an engine width to ensure a bank angle.SOLUTION: A multi-cylinder engine 10 includes: a crank case 11 storing a crank shaft 12; a plurality of crank chambers 20a-20d sectioned for each cylinder by a partition wall 21 in the crank case 11; an idle shaft drive gear 25 journaled to the crank shaft 12; and an idle shaft driven gear 26 engaged to the idle shaft drive gear 25. The idle shaft drive gear 25 is disposed in one crank shaft chamber 20a of the crank shaft chambers 20a-20d.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4
