PURPOSE: To largely shorten a compressor in the stroke direction and obtain a lightweight multi-cylinder type compressor having a compact structure by providing balance pistons and solving the residual imbalance of an inertial force.
CONSTITUTION: Piston rods 9a, 9a are protruded from a crosshead 8 at positions Ta, Ta off the center point of a crosshead pin C on the opposite side to the crosshead 8 across a crank shaft (o). A piston 10a and a cylinder 3a are provided on each of these piston rods 9a, 9a respectively to constitute multiple reciprocating bodies Va, Va. Balance pistons 14a, 14a are provided in a space between the reciprocating bodies Va, Va at a uniform distance from the center of gravity positions of multiple reciprocating bodies Va, Va. This piston 14a has a mass that is a half of the reciprocating mass of a compressor and is connected with a connecting rod 17a having the same rotating radius and the same length as those of the reciprocating body Va.
