Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi display device and projection type display device that can make a joint between screen areas non-conspicuous.SOLUTION: A light source unit 1C comprises: a red color solid state light source 10R, green color solid state light source 10G and blue color solid state light source 10B that generate light of RGB to be supplied to a light valve. Chromaticity adjustment unit 50 is arranged on an optical path between the blue color solid state light source 10B and a screen area, and has a fluorescent member 51 that contains phosphor excitable by light generated by the blue color solid state light source 10B. The fluorescent member 51 is configured to transmit blue light generated by the blue color solid state light source 10B with a wavelength maintained for a first portion of the blue light, and transmit the blue light with a wavelength converted to a longer wavelength for a second portion thereof. The chromaticity adjustment unit 50 is configured so as to enable an adjustment of an intensity ratio of the first and second portions.
