PURPOSE: To shut a leakage magnetic flux to an adjacent front core by a shielding plate by increasing an inclined angle of a plane perpendicular to a magnetic gap to the core larger than that of the plate to the plane.

CONSTITUTION: A multi-element magnetic head comprises two or more front cores 26 having a magnetic gap 2 corresponding to a track provided on a magnetic recording medium, spacers 3 provided on both sides of the cores 26, and shielding plates 4, 5 provided between the spacers 2 to absorb leakage magnetic flux from the adjacent cores 26. An oblique angle θ4 of the core to a plane 24 perpendicular to the gap 2 of the head is larger by 1-15° or preferably 5-10° than an oblique angle θ3 of a front element.shielding plate of the plates 4, 5 to the plane 24. Further, the width h2 of the final front element-shielding plate of the plates 4, 5 is formed to be larger by 0.5mm or preferably 2mm or more than the width h1 of the core 26.
