PURPOSE: To facilitate the preparation of data and to reduce the cost of machining, by providing a tool magazine to a spindle head and by preparing tool data and NC data for machining from displacements of spindles in accordance with copying control by a tracer head so that NC machining is carried out in accordance with these data.
CONSTITUTION: A tool magazine E is provided to a spindle head A, and input data such as, for example, a stylus diameter, a used tool diameter, a degree of interpolating accuracy, a remaining margin and a pattern, are stored in an NC control section disposed in a controller F. Further, automatic copying control is made to a model having an arbitrary shape by means of a tracer head C with the use of the NC control section, and therefore, displacements of a spindle in the axial directions thereof are inputted into a data processing section to prepare NC data for machining of a workpiece having the above-mentioned model shape. By carrying out NC machining in accordance with the thus prepared data, the preparation of data may be facilitated so that it is possible reduce the cost of machining. Further, it is possible to have a function of a machining center due to addiction of the tool magazine, thereby it is possible to provide a multi-functional compound machine tool which is easy to be handled, at a low cost.
