Abstract:
To provide a multi-functional torque converter separating axial force caused by the operation of a piston plate from housing structuring members and a bearing.
An impeller clutch 102 is provided to transmit the torque from a torque input part for the torque converter 100 to an impeller 112 for the torque converter. At least one impeller piston plate 104 for the impeller clutch is provided, and a sealed fluid contained chamber 133 is provided. The sealed chamber is formed liquid-tight except a channel 116 arranged for coupling to a pump, and at least one impeller piston plate 104 forms a first portion of the sealed chamber 133.
