Abstract:
To provide a multi-layer slide member comprising a coating layer of a synthetic resin composition having a minimum difference between a coefficient of static friction and a coefficient of dynamic friction, and a rack-and-pinion steering device capable of securing a smooth steering feeling.SOLUTION: A multi-layer slide member 1 includes: a back metal 2 made of a steel plate; a coating 4 of copper plating or nickel plating formed on one surface 3 of the back metal 2; a porous metal sintered layer 5 joined integrally to the surface 3 of the back metal 2 via the coating 4; and a coating layer 8 formed of a synthetic resin composition filling pores 6 of the porous metal sintered layer 5 and covering a surface 7. The synthetic resin composition contains PTFE as a principal component, and further contains, as additives, 5-30 mass% of a thermotropic liquid crystal polymer, 5-12 mass% of polyaryl ketone resin, 5-12 mass% of molten fluororesin, and 1-5 mass% of polyimide resin.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
