Title:
MULTI-LOBAR CROSS-SECTIONAL FIBER OF MODIFIED POLYESTER, AND ITS PRODUCTION, AND WOVEN OR KNITTED FABRIC USING THE FIBER AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3035521
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject fiber having a multi-lobar cross section having prescribed projections, capable of efficiently generating fibril-like ultrafine fibers, when subjected to an alkaline reduction treatment under specific states, and giving a woven or knitted fabric having an excellent touch.
SOLUTION: This multi-lobar cross-sectional fiber of modified polyester is produced from one or more kinds of aromatic dicarboxylic acids (ester-forming derivatives), such as terephthalic acid, and one or more kinds of diols, such as ethylene glycol, as main components, has a multi-lobar cross section having 3-20 projections, and generates fibril-like ultrafine fibers each having a diameter of 0.1-10 μm and a length of ≥10 μm from the surface of the fiber, when subjected to an alkaline reducing treatment. The cross-sectional shape of the modified polyester multi-lobar cross-sectional fiber in the direction rectangular to the axis of the fiber preferably satisfies the following conditions: (A) n=m, (B) 3≤n≤20, 3≤m≤20, and (C) 1.1≤d1/d2≤3.0 [(n) is the number of projections; (m) is the number of depressions; (d1) is the diameter of a circle circumscribed on the projections; (d2) is the diameter of a circle inscribed on the depressions; (d1)/(d2) is a modification degree].
