Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an iron golf club that employs multiple materials to achieve improved performance.SOLUTION: The present invention employs a lightweight material to form a blade portion 702 of a golf club head 700 while employing a standard steel material to form a hosel portion 704 of the golf club head to allow the malleability of the golf club head to be maintained. The weight saved from the lightweight material used to create the blade portion can be used to create a sole insert 706 that is made of a dense and heavy material to improve the CG and the MOI to dramatically improve the performance of the golf club head. The multiple materials employed allow the performance of the golf club head to be increased without sacrificing the feel characteristics of the golf club head.
