PURPOSE: To obtain the store exchange service with general + purpose performance in response to a communication capability of a terminal equipment by storing a multi-medium multiplex signal while adding the condition of multiplexing.

CONSTITUTION: Motion picture data and coded voice data from a motion picture video telephone set 101 are sent to a communication network 103 as a multi- medium multiplex signal. Upon the receipt of the multi-medium multiplex signal by a center 102, the frame structure is unchanged and communication condition information is added to the signal and the result is stored in a storage device 113. The stored information is sent to a demultiplexer/multiplexer section 112 upon request from the user of the video telephone set 101. The section 112 confirms matching performance of the communication capability information and the communication condition information of the video telephone set 101 obtained at channel setup and gives the multi-medium multiplex signal to the video telephone set 101. Thus, a message from the video telephone set 101 is stored in the center 102 and the stored message is retrieved and read.
