Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a reutilizable hydraulic powder compsn. being the heat- treated product of an asbestos cement product and characterized in that a peak of asbestos due to X-ray diffraction is made absent and asbestos is made harmless without performing the disposal treatment of asbestos cement product waste.
CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic power compsn. is the heat-treated product of an asbestos cement product and has no peak of asbestos due to X-ray diffraction. Since asbestos contained in the asbestos cement product is a hydrous silicate ore showing a fibrous structure and the crystal structure thereof is decomposed accompanied by the dehydration phenomenon due to high temp. treatment. Asbestos in the asbestos cement product is usually chrysotile and/or amosite and chrysotile is dehydrated and decomposed at about 600°C. Chrysotile is perfectly decomposed at 700°C from an X-ray diffraction chart showing the pyrolysis of chrisotile to become amorphous and, when chrysotile is heated to 900°C, harmless non-asbestos forstelite is formed. Amosite starts dehydration at 600°C and collapses at 900°C to become a separate substance.
