Abstract:
To provide a multi-tray sheet feeder whose nip pressure of a relay roller thereof is to be varied correspondingly to a sheet thickness without providing exclusive driving means.SOLUTION: A multi-tray sheet feeder comprises a main-body sheet tray 100 and a manual sheet tray 31, in which an elevation mechanism for raising/lowering a manual bottom plate 34 for the manual sheet tray 31 has a rotary drive shaft 65 to raise/lower the manual bottom plate 34 by a rotation in one direction. By configuring a movable support member 71 supporting a base end of an elastic member 37b pushing a relay follower roller 42b onto a relay driving roller 42a, providing a one-direction clutch 80 to rotation-connect only when reverse rotating oppositely to the one direction and a cam lever 70 made in one body with the one-direction clutch on the rotary drive shaft 65 and rotating reversely the rotary drive shaft 65, the support member 71 is configured movable axially of the elastic member 37b by means of at least one projection 70a formed on the cam lever.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 12A
