PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength management system simplified for securing a wavelength stability of a multi-wavelength light source device with precision wavelength intervals, in a technical field using a wavelength multiplex optical transmission system and a reference wavelength light source.
SOLUTION: This light source device is provided with a single wavelength light source 1, an optical loop 3 in which the light from the light source 1 is circulated, an optical frequency shifter 5 which is arranged in the optical loop 3 and phase- modulates the light of the light source, an optical amplifier 4 for amplifying said light of the light source, a demultiplexer 6 which demultiplexes and outputs the light outputted from the optical loop, a frequency detecting device 8 to which a part of the optical output from the demultiplexer 6 is inputted, and a frequency control device 11 which controls the frequency of the light source 1 based on the variations in the wavelength of the light detected by the frequency detecting device 8. A necessary RF signal is electrically supplied to a frequency shifter 5 from a synchronous circuit 10; also the frequency detecting device 8 detects variation in the light intensity converted into multiple wavelengths synchronizing with the RF signal, and determines the wavelength variation of the light from the variation in the optical intensity, and the wavelength of the light source is managed based on the wavelength variation.
