Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To instrument pitches precisely in the auxiliary scanning direction by no use of a clock having a high frequency by providing auxiliary scanning pitch calculating means for the calculation of pitches in the auxiliary scanning direction on the basis of the measured result of a beam passage time at beam passage time measuring means and phase data from a phase detection means.
SOLUTION: Beam positional detecting signals S1, S2 outputted from beam position detection means 10 are inputted in beam passage time detecting means 13; simultaneously inputted in phase detecting means 12. Based on the beam position detecting signals S1, S2 from an optical sensor, the pulse distance from the optical sensor obtained by the beam passage time measuring means 13 and phase data obtained by the phase detecting means 12 are inputted and subsequently calculated in auxiliary scanning pitch calculating means 14, and the data obtained by the calculation is outputted as an auxiliary scanning pitch data. In this manner, precise pitches in the auxiliary scanning direction can be calculated without the use of a high frequency calculation clock.
