To provide a Hall effect thruster 10 capable of increasing output density by utilizing thruster surface area effectively or reducing an operation region.
This Hall effect thruster 10 for propelling a space craft and an artificial satellite is provided with at least two acceleration channels provided with a closing end 16 and an opening end 14, respectively, and a plurality of magnetic flux guides 22, 24, 26 adjacent to each channel. The plurality of magnetic flux guides include the magnetic flux guide 22 on the most inner side, the magnetic flux guide 24 on the most outer side, and at least one intermediate magnetic flux guide 26. Each of the intermediate magnetic flux guides 26 assists generation of magnetic field in each of two adjacent acceleration channels 12. The magnetic flux guide is provided with electromagnetic coils or permanent magnets 28, 30, 32, 34 and a gas distribution positve electrode 18.
