PURPOSE: To enable multicolor images to be obtained by a simple process, by a method wherein thermal, optical and electric energies are applied to a base on which a color developer layer and a mixture of microcapsules respectively containing leuco dyes to be developed respectively into cyan, magenta and yellow colors are sequentially provided by coating, thereby developing the colors.
CONSTITUTION: A coated layer comprising a color developer 3 is provided on a base 2, and a uniform mixture of three kinds of microcapsules 4 containing leuco dyes 8 to be developed respectively into cyan, magenta and yellow colors as respective main core substances is applied to the coated layer. Thermal, optical and electric energies are applied to the base 2, thereby forming a multicolor image. For example, wall films of the microcapsules for cyan color are formed of a material which is melted when being heated to a temperature T1, while the films of the microcapsules for magenta color are formed of a material which absorbs laser light and is melted when being heated to a temperature T2 (T2>T1) by the laser light, and the films of the microcapsules for yellow color are formed of a material which comprises a conductive substance and is melted when being heated to a temperature T3 (T3>T2).
