Title:
MULTICORE OPTICAL FIBER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2014197094
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multicore optical fiber, even when a plurality of cores are symmetrically arranged in the cross section, capable of easily identifying the respective cores and inhibiting enlargement of a fiber outer diameter and deterioration in crosstalk between the cores.SOLUTION: A multicore optical fiber 1A includes cores 10 to 16, a visual recognition marker 20, and a shared cladding 30 enclosing the cores 10 to 16 and the visible recognition marker 20. The cores 10 to 16 and the visual recognition marker 20 extend along the fiber-axis direction. A refractive index of the visual recognition marker 20 differs from a refractive index of the cladding 30. In a cross-section perpendicular to the fiber-axis, the cores 10 to 16 are arranged such that they have six-rotational symmetry and a line symmetry. The visual recognition marker 20 is arranged at a position which breaks such the symmetries. The visual recognition marker 20 is arranged inside a circle having the minimum diameter for including the cores 10 to 16, with the fiber center as the circle center.
