To provide a multifocal lens simulator and a method of simulating a multifocal lens, realizing and undergoing the effect of intraocular lens, a difference between the diffraction type and refraction type, or demerit even when not undergoing insertion operation for a multifocal intraocular lens (before the insertion operation).
This multifocal lens simulator includes: an afocal optical system for emitting light beams entering as substantially parallel light in the form of substantially parallel light beams. A tested lens supporting means for housing a multifocal sample leans having a predetermined basic refractive force and a plurality of refractive forces which are additional refractive force obtained by adding a differential refractive force to the basic refractive force is disposed in front of the afocal optical system. A material to be observed can be observed through the multifocal sample lens and afocal optical system by an observer in the rear of the afocal optical system. The tested lens supporting means is installed at a position optically conjugate with a position at which an eye of an observer is to be placed.
