To obtain a multilayer interference pigment having a silicon oxide small plate as the base which has strong chroma and excellent brightness of all hues having passed through when the visual angle is changed and has a strong dependence of the interference color on an angle.
The multilayer interference pigment comprises a small plate substrate of silicon dioxide on which a plurality of layers of an optical transmission material having a refractive index of n>1.8 and a plurality of layers of an optical transmission material having a refractive index of n≤1.8 are alternately coated, simultaneously the optical thickness of the small plate substrate and that of each layer of the optical transmission material having the refractive index of n≤1.8 being equal.
