PURPOSE: To obtain a multilayer laminate superior in resistance to stress, esp. to rule cracking, and enhanced in gas barrier properties by a method wherein water dispersion of a themoplastic resin containing hydroxyl groups in a ratio of a specific value or more is applied on a metal or metallic oxide film formed on a surface of a plastic substrate.
CONSTITUTION: On a surface of a plastic substrate using a thermoplastic resin as a general molding material, esp. a molding material for a container, a film, and other packaging materials, a metal or a metallic oxide is provided in a film form by a vacuum thermal deposition method, a sputtering method, or the like. On this film, water dispersion of a thermoplastic resin containing 1mol% or more hydroxyl is applied. If the content of the hydroxyl groups is less than 1mol%, development of a resistance to rule cracking is reduced because of shortage of the hydration reaction of the hydroxyl-containing themoplastic resin with the metal or the metallic oxide. Furthermore, when the water dispersion of a hydroxyl-containing thermoplastic resin is applied on the metal or metallic oxide film, a high interlaminar bonding strength between the film and the hydroxyl-containing thermoplastic resin is obtained by the hydration reaction.
