PURPOSE: To select multimedium information consisting of vido, audio, and digital data by receiving digital data, which is transmitted by using a digital data area, to guarantee a desired data quality and multiplexing data by an operation device interactive to a user.

CONSTITUTION: The digital data area in a BS broadcast and satellite communication CS system is used to transmit digital data which the user can select. When this data is received on the reception side, decoded data is sent to a CPU 6. Required data is selected based on the operation of a multimedium select switch 163 on an operation input part 16, namely, user's selection. Selected data is sent to and stored in a memory 13 and is synthesized as an objective character or graphic picture signal. This picture signal is displayed together with a video signal separated by a synchronizing signal separating circuit 15 under the control of a tube face display processing part 14 driven by this video signal.
