Abstract:
A method of transmitting data between a first terminal (41, 42; 43) and a second terminal via a communication network, in particular via a first or a second communication network, using either a circuit switched connection or a packet switched connection, comprising the following steps: a) setting up a call and/or a data link session between said two terminals; b) establishing a circuit switched connection via said communication network, in particular via said first communication network; c) transmitting the data of said call and/or data link session using said circuit switched connection; d) initializing manually or automatically a switching, in particular a handover procedure, by establishing a packet switched connection via said communication network, in particular via said second communication network; e) switching, in particular handing over after both connections have been established, said call and/or data link session, from said circuit switched connection to said packet switched connection without disconnecting said call and/or data link session; and f) transmitting the data of said call and/or data link session using said packet switched connection via said communication network, in particular said second communication network. A switch designed to operate and establish data connections to a terminal in the above defined communication network(s).
