PURPOSE: To make it possible to display desired information and to enhance the degree of freedom in designing without freshly expanding a display area by providing the front surface of a display or display board with EL light emitting elements consisting of transparent electrodes.

CONSTITUTION: A display driving means and a data processing control means are built in a circuit mechanism section 6. The display means has the hands 4 and a dial 5 and a battery 7 is used as an electric power supply section. Further, the front surface of this display means is provided with the electroluminescence(EL) display 3. The respective members are built in a lower case 2 having an upper case 1 and a rear cap 8. If these is an instruction of data output to a central processing unit, the central processing unit reads out the data from a semiconductor memory and sends the data to a display driving section. The display driving section impresses signal voltages on the EL display 3 according to this data to trigger the EL to make light emitting display. The EL display 3 is transparent except at the time of display and normally functions as a pure analog timepiece.
