Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retarder with smaller installation space and reduced in weight.
SOLUTION: This multiple eddy current retarder is provided with a second cylindrical portion 5a and a second stator Sa.It is desirable that, in the retarder one end of the second cylindrical portion 5a be secured with second spokes 4a, and the second spokes be laced alternately between first spokes 4. The two cylindrical portions 5, 5a are attached to a disk 3 on a rotary shaft 1 at positions before and after the spokes 4, 4a via the spokes. A second stator S2 is placed in a second case 10a, and the second case is supported on a second case support 12a and a coupling plate 15 coupled with a first case 10. A bearing 16 is inserted into the case support 12a, and desirably a shaft neck 17 installed on the rotary shaft 1 via a flange 17a is inserted into the bearing 16.
