To obtain a multiple gauze woven fabric which has softness characteristic of gauze cloth and sufficiently makes the best use of merits of touch and feeling and in which high-quality patterning is readily carried out.

The multiple gauze woven fabric 1 is obtained by piling four parallel planar weaves S1-S4. The four parallel planar weaves S1-S4 are a parallel gauze cloth in which wefts 3a-3d for a gauze cloth and warps 4a-4d for a gauze cloth are woven basically by plain weave, the wefts 3a-3d are not lifted and lowered between the planar weaves of the four parallel planar weaves S1-S4 and arranged in a planar state and the warps 4a-4d are partially lifted and lowered between planar weaves of the four parallel planar weaves S1-S4, woven in the wefts 3a-3d of the different planar weaves and connected. Each of the plurality of the planar weaves S1-S4 is a patterned planar weave or a pattern-free plain planar weave. The patterned planar weave is woven by a plurality of pairs of colors of warps and wefts and has a striped patter or lattice pattern.
