PURPOSE: To eliminate the display of only an undesirable minority part just after program designation by discriminating code signals of a desired program and detecting code signals corresponding to a prescribed position of information pictures and providing an FF which is reset by this detection output.

CONSTITUTION: When an audience operates program designation circuit 18 to designate a desired program, a clear pulse is applied to the R terminal of FF 30 to reset FF 30, and gate 32 is made conductive from the Q' terminal. At this time, if a desired number is not transmitted, FF 30 is not set because no agreement signal is outputted from program comparator cirucit 17. Then, when lines lower than the center are transmitted even if the designated program is transmitted, no detection signal is outputted from gate 29, and FF 30 is not set. At this time, all character information is displayed while changing it successively to report a waiting state to the audience independently of the program, and the incomplete display of only the minority part below the lower half is prevented from being continued for a long time. When top character information of the designated program is transmitted, FF 30 is set from gate 29, and character information for the whole of one screen is displayed.
