PURPOSE: To prevent a chattering pattern from being generated on intermediate rolls and to improve the surface state of a stock to be rolled by providing chatter preventive taper parts having a taper starting point at a specified position of a multiple rolling mill.

CONSTITUTION: At the multiple rolling mill 1 to roll the stock 10 to be rolled by work rolls 11, 21, the chatter preventive taper parts 12b, 22b having a taper starting point are provided at the other end sides of the intermediate rolls 12, 22, at positions shifted a little from the end sides of the intermediate rolls 12, 22 from the end parts in in the width direction. As a result of this rolling, chattering patterns are prevented from being generated on the intermediate rolls 12, 22, a middle waviness is prevented from generation on the stock 10, to be rolled the surface quality of the rolled stock is excellent and rolling good in flatness can be performed.
